Chardi Kala is a cornerstone of Sikh philosophy. It closes the Ardaas — the daily Sikh prayer — with the line 'Nanak Naam Chardi Kala, Tere Bhaane Sarbat Da Bhala' — 'in Your Name, O Nanak, may spirits ever be high, and may all of humanity prosper by Your Will.'
