01 · Wash Cold, Inside Out
30°C on a gentle cycle, garment turned inside out. Cold water protects both dye and print; hot water opens the fibre and accelerates fading. Turning the tee inside out means the print never rubs directly against the drum or other garments.
Wash with similar colours only. Dark onyx and warm cream should never share a load.
02 · Skip the Softener
Fabric softener coats cotton fibres with a thin film. On heavyweight combed cotton that film flattens the hand feel you paid for and reduces absorbency permanently.
Avoid bleach and any detergent with optical brighteners — they dull dark cotton and yellow cream over time. A mild liquid detergent is all this cloth needs.
03 · Dry in Shade
Direct Indian sun is brutal on both dye and ink. Line dry in shade with the garment inside out, or tumble dry on low if you must.
Hang from the hem or dry flat rather than hanging from the shoulders while heavy with water — wet 280 GSM cotton is heavy enough to stretch a shoulder line out of shape.
04 · Never Iron the Print
Turn the tee inside out and press on low heat, avoiding the printed area entirely. Direct heat on ink causes cracking and gloss.
Store folded rather than hung. Heavy cotton on a thin hanger will develop shoulder points over months.
If Something Goes Wrong
Minor fading on dark cotton is normal and, on the Mitti tee, intentional — it is designed to improve as it wears.
